ACTA’s History

The Air Conditioning Trade Association was formed in 1972, by a group of sheet metal, heating and air conditioning contractors who united for the common goal of training and educating the industry workforce. That same year, the group sponsored its first sheet metal training class for apprentices through the Turlock, California Adult Education Program.

In 1993, the State of California accredited ACTA to train apprentices, and in 2003 the Department of Labor federally registered ACTA’s apprenticeship program.
