Atlas Heating & Air Conditioning’s Improved Technology Enhances Heat Pump Performance
Atlas Heating & Air Conditioning’s Improved Technology Enhances Heat Pump Performance
(PRWEB) December 3, 2008
Known for installing Virginia’s warmest air-source heat pump systems on record, Atlas Heating & air Conditioning has managed to further enhance their signature heat pump Maximizer, enhancing both comfort and efficiency.
Newly advanced technology allows the Maximizer device to measure heating performance in order to determine the exact level of thermal depletion that occurs with ground source heat pumps. All heat pumps experience thermal depletion, and often require various amounts of supplemental heat to compensate for the loss. Supplemental heat is a necessary evil that is often feared or rejected by homeowners. Many have even gone as far as to have it disabled in hopes of lowering their utility cost. Unfortunately this crippling of the system is more likely to do harm than it is to do good. The Maximizer’s claim to fame is its unique ability to regulate and control supplemental heat sources for the most economical balance of comfort and efficiency. These economical developments mean a warmer home with a lower utility bill.
Sophisticated temperature sensors combined with a simple method of calculation determine exactly how much heat is being produced by a heat pump. The Maximizer contains two probes which are installed inside a heat pump’s interior unit. One probe measures the temperature of the air in the house, while the other measures the heated air flowing in the supply duct. A comparator circuit then decides when to engage the back up heat to deliver the most economical balance of effective heating.
Installed in five quick minutes, the Maximizer’s common sense design and patented temperature comparing relay make it one if the greatest contributions to heat pump technology.

Cooling Vests to Protect Football Players from the Heat
(PRWEB) August 3, 2005
It is August. It is summer. It is hot, and it is kick-off time across the country as pre-season football practice begins. Players will expect to get hot and sweaty, as their coaches attempt to whip them into shape. However a combination of hot/humid weather, tough conditioning drills and players unaccustomed to practicing in the heat, can make August a deadly and dangerous month.
Despite all the warnings, the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research reports that 24 football players (19 high school, 3 college and 2 professional) have died from heatstroke since 1995.
The main problem associated with exercising in the hot weather is the water loss through sweating. However drinking water is simply not enough. In extremely hot weather the body will sweat at a rate faster than water can be absorbed into the system. So how can we reduce the amount of sweating, while at the same time help the body to regulate its core body temperature?
The answer is the Arctic Heat Body Cooling Vest. A lightweight cool vest which will not only help to protect athletes from heat related illness, but it will also allow athletes to work harder for longer.
The Arctic Heat cooling vest was originally developed for football players in Australia and it now used by International teams in every other major football code in the world. Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer and Australian Rules Football all use the cooling vest to protect their athletes and to improve their performance. It was also used at the Athens Olympics by all the major sporting countries, including many of the USA teams. The military in Iraq are even using the Arctic Heat cooling vests.
ÂThe Arctic Heat Cooling Vest, designed for football, will legally improve performance and will also help protect an athleteÂs health, said Dr John Surie, President of Arctic Heat USA.
The ice cold cooling vest can be worn underneath playing uniforms, it can be used as a pre-cooling device before conditioning drills, and it can be used as a recovery tool in between or after sessions.
Yet enquiries from local football teams have so far been limited. ÂThere seems to be a different mentality in football that you have to run players hard and make them sweat, in order to toughen them up. We believe it is better to cool down and fire up athletes. Most other sporting codes in the world now agree with us, said Dean Sainsbury from the Arctic Heat company.
Arctic Heat has also developed a range of unique cooling blankets and cooling caps which can be used to immediately treat players who have overheated. “The cooling caps can be used during a game to cool players down. When they come to the bench they can remove their helmets, put the cool cap on, and cool down, said Dr Surie.
The lightweight Arctic Heat Cooling Vest uses a two stage cooling process. The vests contain a gel-like substance that can be frozen or chilled. The cooling vests are manufactured using Woolmark’s Sportwool, a special body cooling fabric which incorporates Vapor Management Technology, helping to wick moisture away from the skin, allowing the user to keep dry.
The Arctic Heat body cooling vest which is suitable for industrial, medical and sporting applications, retails for 4.95, and can be purchased online through the Arctic Heat USA website www.arcticheatusa.com. Discounts apply for school sporting teams.

Air source heat pumps – a viable route to saving the planet!
Air Source Heat Pumps
(PRWEB) November 23, 2009
You’ve seen the new infomercials on the TV – the parent telling their children the story of how our CO2 emissions will ruin the world if we don’t act to reduce them right now. Indeed, we all have to begin thinking differently about how we use our energy. It’s time for the 3 minute shower and ensuring the house lights are switched off when the room is not in use. It is time we all made a move to use more renewable and energy-saving sources of heat within our homes. It’s time to think about Air Source heating solutions.
What exactly is an air source heat pump? Imagine a renewable source of heating in your home that’s available all year round, and doesn’t require a boiler. An energy source that is cost and energy efficient, more so than almost all other domestic heating sources available on the market today. It exists – it is called an air source heat pump. In comparison with solar heating – a similar, perhaps more well-known renewable source of heat – the advantages of the former are vast.
Firstly, air source heat pumps require no boiler to operate – they capture the heat in the air and convert it into enough hot water to meet all your home’s hot water and central heating needs. Whilst solar heating panels provide a truly renewable source of energy, they still require conventional boilers to provide central heating and to provide back up for hot water during periods where there is little to no sunlight. Furthermore, a solar panel is least efficient at a time when it is needed the most – at dusk and dawn.
Air source heat pumps on the other hand can be used to fill all your hot water needs throughout the year, no matter what temperature and weather conditions. Even in winter, on cloudy days, or cold nights, the air still carries heat energy from the sun. A Green Air Central Heating System works effectively in air temperatures as low as -20oC – because it’s an intelligent system; it just works a little harder when it needs to.
Compare this to a solar heating panel, which needs to be placed on a south facing wall that receives direct sunlight for the majority of the day, not always a realistic expectation in the UK climate. Problems will arise.
With Green Air’s solution to this big environmental problem, we can potentially cut our carbon emissions up to 50%. Considering that 27% of the UK’s emissions are from heating buildings that is truly astounding!

U.S.A Olympic Athletes Set to Beat the Heat in Athens
(PRWEB) August 4, 2004
The Athens Summer Olympics is set to be the hottest on record with possible temperatures over 100F (38C). So after 4 years of dedicated training to reach peak physical conditioning many Olympic athletes have been worried about suffering from heat stress at that final critical moment. Therefore, to combat the summer heat and gain an edge over the competition several USA Olympic sports teams have turned to sports science and a specially designed cooling vest.
The cold vests sold by Arctic Heat USA allow athletes to train harder for longer, thus gaining an edge over the competition. Sports science has shown that by pre-cooling the body the effects of overheating can be delayed, thus providing a significant gain in performance. This means that pre-cooled competitors will sweat less, their heart rates are lower, and more energy can be directed towards producing personal bests rather than trying to keep the body cool.
During the Olympic Games, the cooling vest will be worn pre-event by the USA Olympic athletes in sports such as rowing, swimming, modern pentathlon, synchronized swimming, triathlon, canoe and kayak. A split second is often the difference between a Gold medal and no medal. The Arctic Heat Cooling vest could very well provide that difference.
“Many Olympic athletes who are now using our Arctic Heat Cooling Vests are hoping for extremely hot weather at Athens,” says Arctic Heat USA’s John Surie. “They know that they will gain a substantial performance edge over their competitors even in temperatures as low as 75F (24C) .”
The lightweight Arctic Heat Cooling vest works using a two stage cooling process. The vests contain a gel-like substance that can be frozen or chilled, and will maintain that temperature for up to 2 hours. The cooling vests are manufactured using Woolmark’s SportwoolTM fabric incorporating ‘Vapour Management Technology’, the natural solution for high performance sportswear.

Heat Pump Blowing Cold Air? Control it.
(PRWEB) January 1, 2005
Heat pump expert Robert Gault, president of Atlas Controls division of Atlas L.C. in Manassas, VA, has come up with a unique patented heat pump control that overcomes consumers biggest complaint with heat pumps – Â in extreme cold conditions, the outside unit may run continuously but it just blows cold airÂ.
Gault says ÂThe heat pump Maximizer puts an end to the term cold heat; a term too often used to describe heat pumps. The Maximizer gives heat pumps the ability to engage the auxiliary heat at the most economical point of operation. The end result is a warmer home with a lower utility bill. Â
The heat pump Maximizer is a new computerized control for your heat pump that tells the system how to most efficiently and effectively heat your house.
According to Gault, “I’ve been a heating and cooling contractor for 18 years and I’ve installed hundreds of heat pumps. I know all about those wintertime complaints! So I invented the Maximizer for my customers.”

(PRWEB) September 18, 2004
Many USA competitors at the Athens Olympics used the Arctic Heat cooling vest to help them Âbeat the heat and improve their performances. Soldiers in the Iraqi desert are even using the cooling vests to combat the harsh conditions.
The lightweight cooling vests sold by Arctic Heat USA allow athletes to play harder for longer, thus gaining an edge over the competition. Sports science has shown that by pre-cooling the body the effects of overheating can be delayed, thus providing a significant gain in performance. This means that pre-cooled competitors will sweat less, their heart rates are lower, and more energy can be directed towards producing personal bests rather than trying to keep the body cool.

Saturday, September 18, Wisconsin traveled to Arizona to play NCAA College football in the heat of the midday sun. Temperatures are set to be in the mid 90s and the teams are very conscious of heat stress affecting performances. Yet it appears many football teams are unaware of the latest cooling products available.
ÂThis week we were reading news stories of the Arizona team having the ability to blow cold air into their uniforms to keep them cool. Wisconsin did not seem to have anything available to keep them cool, so we thought we would give them a little bit of help and supplied them with some Arctic Heat Cooling Vests to even the ledger. I think our ice vests will be a little more effective than some cold air, said John Surie, President of Arctic Heat USA.
Cooling vests for football teams is nothing new for the Arctic Heat company. The vests were originally designed with football players in mind and for the past 5 years every professional Australian Rules Football team has used the Arctic Heat Cooling Vests to keep their players cool. ÂThe Aussie Rules football players use the cooling vests before the start of the game and also during the quarter time and half time breaks to keep players cool, improve their performance, and protect them from heat stress injuries. said Surie.
The Arctic Heat USA body cooling vest, comes in a large range of sizes and retails for 4.95. It can be purchased online from the Arctic Heat USA online store www.arcticheatusa.com
